Frequently Asked Questions

What types of drafting services do you offer?
We provide a wide array of drafting services including site plans, floor plans, structural plans, foundation plans, elevations, cross-sections, and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) drawings.
We can create plans for both residential and commercial projects and can handle projects ranging from small additions to entire buildings. We also offer CAD files (DWG format) so you have the ability to manipulate the file as needed.

Do you provide stamped drawings, and what does that mean?
Yes, we can provide stamped drawings. This means we work with structural engineers to get our drafted plans officially reviewed and stamped.
This is often a requirement for permitting and construction. While we can coordinate the structural engineering stamp, we don't typically stamp the MEP drawings ourselves. However if that is required we can coordinate the service for you.

Do you work in my area? Are you a local company?
While our headquarters are based in Utah, we service clients nationwide. We have a network of engineers and technicians throughout the United States allowing us to meet local city and county codes, no matter your location.

How do you ensure your plans meet local building codes?
We make sure our drafted plans meet the city and county codes by keeping up-to-date with local regulations and building codes nationwide.
When we draft plans, we're not simply drawing; we're also researching local codes to ensure you get a plan set that is permit-ready, often including things like setback requirements.
We also offer revisions at no extra cost if the city requests changes.

MEP drawings are a standard component of the full construction sets provided by Evolution Drafting.
While Evolution Drafting includes plumbing plans that show where the plumbing will be, they do not include detailed specifications like fittings, pipe types, or fixture types, as these specifics are typically left to the plumber during construction.
Similarly, for electrical, they will help place outlets and ensure designs adhere to code, but can not do electrical load calculation or system design.

Do I own the copyright to the plan I purchase?
No, Evolution Drafting retains all copyrights regarding all plans sold. The purchase of a set of house plans in no way transfers any copyright of other ownership interest to the buyer except for a limited license to use that set of House Plans for the construction of one structure.
Multiple uses of a plan can be purchased at a discounted rate.
