Overview
This project involves the demolition of an existing structure and construction of a new single-family residence designed to harmonize classic architectural character with modern comfort. The design emphasizes natural light, material richness, and functional flow, with a distinctive front bay that enhances both interior experience and exterior curb appeal. Stone veneer detailing adds warmth and texture, while smooth stucco and architectural roofing provide a refined, durable finish. Inside, the home is organized to balance openness in shared areas with privacy in the bedroom zones, creating a residence that feels both inviting and thoughtfully composed.
Client Type
The project was commissioned by a private homeowner seeking to replace an aging structure with a new, efficient, and visually appealing residence. The client’s priorities included optimizing natural light, achieving a timeless design aesthetic, and incorporating adaptable spaces that can evolve with future needs—such as provisions for a potential garage addition.
Project Scope
The scope of work included the full demolition of the existing dwelling and new construction of a three-bedroom, single-family residence. Key elements of the design include:
A distinctive front bay with tall windows that flood the interior with light
Stone veneer detailing paired with smooth stucco for contrast and visual depth
A 4/12 pitched roof finished in architectural asphalt shingles for durability
A spacious master suite with a luxurious bathroom and high-end finishes
Secondary bedrooms that provide comfort and flexibility for family or guests
Provisions for a future garage, maintaining adaptability for evolving needs
Challenges Addressed
Designing within the constraints of the site and replacing an existing structure required careful coordination between demolition, grading, and new construction. The team faced the challenge of optimizing light and space within the available footprint while maintaining a cohesive material palette. Balancing traditional detailing with a contemporary layout also required thoughtful design integration to ensure both aesthetic and functional success.
Goals Achieved
The completed design fulfills the client’s objectives for a home that is both elegant and efficient, offering:
✔️ A harmonious balance of traditional materials and modern design elements
✔️ Light-filled interiors that enhance comfort and livability
✔️ Durable, low-maintenance exterior finishes suited to long-term performance
✔️ A layout that supports both family life and personal retreat
✔️ Flexibility for future expansion or adaptation
